About

Elena is a Costa Rican civil engineer living in Massachusetts. After getting her degree in Civil Engineering and working for about 2 years in Costa Rica, she moved to the US and got her Master's degree in Engineering and Public Policy, with a concentration in Energy and Environment from Northeastern University. 

​

During her time there, she was part of NU's Graduate Women In Science and Engineering (GWiSE) graduate group, where she served as Media and Communications Chair as well as Treasurer. She also had the opportunity of joining the Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) as a Co-op in the Development Review Team.

​

Elena is passionate about addressing the climate crisis in a feminist, socially just manner; creating public policies based on science, research, and evidence; and overall creating a built environment that is in balance with the planet's carrying capacities and designed with everyone's needs in mind.
